The High Arkis
The High Arkis is a priest that serves and supervises the whole functions
of all activities of the church. They receive a temple that is located within
Kalish and is the highest priest of any deity from the Pantheon of Orenias
in the Realm of Saronis. You could think of him as the Pope of the Catholic
church. There is only one and he has dominance over all of the churches.
Again, no man picks the High Arkis, but the deity him/her self picks him
or her. There may only be a number no greater than 1 High Arkis for every
deity. Therefore, being one is a great privilege, but with great price as
well. Any high cleric that is to become an Arkis must meet the following
requirements.
- Must be at least a 20th level cleric
- Must have a morale of no less than 16
- Can not have a Wisdom Score of less than 16
- Can not have an intelligence score of less than 16
- Alignment must be within the appropriate lines with no crossing of
boundry
Those who meet these requirements may qualify by the deity to become
the High Arkis. If the deity chooses the character as an High Arkis, then
he/she will only have to answer to the dein and that is it. They are the
highest mortal in the churches attainable. The High Arkis will also receive
additional powers that are in addition to those of the Arkis. These vary
from dein to dein, but they have an extreme and unbalancing effect on game
play.
- Proficiency Group Crossover: Priest, mage
- Requisites: Int. 10, Con 10, Wis. 10
- Armor: Only Cloths 1A-C
- Major Spheres: All, Animation, Astronomical, Creation, Divination,
Feast, Healing, Life, Protection, Summons, Fantasin Magic
- Minor Spheres: Guardian, Weather
- Additional Spells: Avatarias (P/7/As/VSM), Araknias Norfias (P/7/Of/VS)
- Magical Piece allowance: Any
- Required Proficiencies: Ancient History, Religion, Spell craft,
- Bonus Proficiencies: Healing, Herbalism
- Allowed Races: Elf, Gelfin, Human
- Omtimun Vision 60' (Elves Infra vision are replaced and Gelfins receive
120') gained at 12th.
- Healing by laying on Hands at 3 pts per level 1 time per day
- Soothing Word (3 times per day)
- Turn Undead base 15
- Shape Change into any natural Avian
- Detect Magic (3 times per day)
- There is no longer a need to have a book that assists the cleric in
understanding the spells that Jrinikas blesses them with.
- May declare a holy war and receive full support of all of the temples
of Jrinikas. The High High Arkis will appoint the Arki in all of the functions
of major forces (usually an army of 5,000+).
- The High Arkis may call upon a wyrm fankanol dragon with maximum hit
points as a mount and advisory. The High Arkis should have a air mount
profiency, but the dragon is still available.
- May resurrect anyone twice a week with the consent of Jrinikas.
- May appoint anyone that meets the normal requirement of a Paladin to
Jrinikas such by knighting him. This is automatic and the fighter will
become a Paladin of 3/4 his level with all of the abilities. Any ability
that normally takes time will come in effect over a week's time.
Restrictions
- May not partake any swine or other animal in relation with a pig
- Must not turn down any aide in request from anyone in the Orders of
Kalish, The Dominion of Kalish, or the League of Kalish
- May not drink Alcohol without the blessing of a cleric of higher level.
(Min 10). The Blessing takes 1 day and requires the Burning sacrifice of
1,000 gp of spices and herbs per ton. Only fine liquors may be bless. Therefore,
ales and beers are not allowed under any circumstances.
Disadvantages
- Holy Symbol glows and a halo of light glows over the head any time
a clerical spell is cast making it impossible to cast in secrecy. Any time
a granted power is performed, the body glows with light making any evil
character that is not of the Kalish very uncomfortable.
- The cleric/preist must have the holy symbol in any spell except call
holy symbol. (P/2/As/VSM)
- May only pray for spells at night and the there is no natural sunlight.
Spells, or unnatural occurrences do not apply

Penance to the church
- For minor wrong doings, the High Arkis will loose all abilities granted
to him as a cleric until a prayer of forgiveness is made every night for
1 week's time. At which so, he must sacrifice 1 gp for every experience
point he has. This sacrifice is then sent to the other churches in equal
increments. The High Arkis must either make arrangements or pay for the
shipping of the sacrifice. (Note that most people will not go near the
Kalish, and those that will, will do so at a hefty)
- For wrong doings not extreme, the High Arkis will loose all abilities
and spells for 1 week's time. At which so, he must do the above except
he must sacrifice 2 gp for every experience point he has attained.
- For extreme wrong doings, the High Arkis looses all powers and will
no longer be accepted as a High Arkis. With proper repenting, the High
Arkis will be reduced to an Arkis, otherwise, he will be a normal cleric.
All levels and powers will be reduced to fit for the new rank. A new High
Arkis will be chosen as above.
Duties of the High Arkis
- Council anyone who seeks it
- Vigilance against those who are against or betray the Kalish
- Support the Kalish Orders
- Marriage to the followers
- Archiving spells and lore that the mage will find useful
- Promote the Fantasin Arts
- Teaching of the art
- Protect the magic weilders of the Kalish Orders in any event that the
Kalish calls forth upon.
- Provide trial for the Kalish and support the Council in any investigation
or judicial proceedings.
- To justly uphold all morals and requirements of the church as well
as enforce them with the proper wisdom.
- To run the churches and make appropriate actions as necessary
- To never abuse the power of the High Arkis. Doing so will constitute
a penance of medium value or one of extreme value.
