The Arkis Priest
The Arkis Priest is a priest that serves a deity from the Pantheon of
Orenias in the Realm of Saronis. No man picks the Arkis, but the deity him/her
self picks them. There may only be a number no greater than 20 Arki for
every deity. Therefore, being one is a great privilege, but with great price
as well. Any high cleric that is to become an Arkis must meet the following
requirements.
- Must be at least a 15th level cleric
- Must have a morale of no less than 16
- Can not have a Wisdom Score of less than 16
- Can not have an intelligence score of less than 16
- Alignment must be within the appropriate lines with no crossing of
boundary
Those who meet these requirements may qualify by the deity to become
an Arkis. If the deity chooses the character as an Arkis, then he/she will
be the advisor and personal aides of the High Arkis. The Arkis will also
receive additional powers that are in addition to the normal priest. These
vary from den to den, but they greatly make an effect on game play.
Abilities of the Arkis
- Proficiency Group Crossover: Priest, mage
- Requisites: Int. 10, Con 10, Wis. 10
- Armor: Only Cloths 1A-C
- Major Spheres: All, Animation, Astronomical, Creation, Divination,
Feast, Healing, Life, Protection, Summons,
- Minor Spheres: Guardian, Weather, Fantasin Magic
- Additional Spells: Avatarias (P/7/As/VSM), Araknias Norfias (P/7/Of/VS)
- Magical Piece allowance: Any
- Required Proficiencies: Ancient History, Religion, Spell craft,
- Bonus Proficiencies: Healing, Herbalism
- Allowed Races: Elf, Gelfin, Human
- Omtimun Vision 120' (Elves Infra vision are replaced and Gelfins receive
240') gained at 12th.
- Healing by laying on Hands at 3pts per level 1 time per day
- Soothing Word (3 times per day)
- Turn Undead base 15
- Shape Change into any natural Avian
- Detect Magic (3 times per day)
- May resurrect 1 time a week to anyone that is a member of the Kalish
Restrictions
- May not partake any swine or other animal in relation with a pig
- Must not turn down any aide in request from anyone in the Orders of
Kalish, The Dominion of Kalish, or the League of Kalish
- May not drink Alcohol without the blessing of a cleric of higher level.
(Min 10). The Blessing takes 1 day and requires the Burning sacrifice of
1,000 gp of spices and herbs per ton. Only fine liquors may be bless. Therefore,
ales and beers are not allowed under any circumstances.
Disadvantages
- Holy Symbol glows and a halo of light glows over the head any time
a clerical spell is cast making it impossible to cast in secrecy. Any time
a granted power is performed, the body glows with light making any evil
character that is not of the Kalish very uncomfortable.
- The cleric/preist must have the holy symbol in any spell except call
holy symbol. (P/2/As/VSM)
- Must have a separate book of all available spells to the messenger.
This is partly due to the complexities of the miracle incantations. This
is only in beseeching Jrinikas

- May only pray for spells at night and the there is no natural sunlight.
Spells, or unnatural occurrences do not apply

Penance to the Church
- For minor wrong doings, the Arkis will loose Minor Spheres and has
no granted powers until prayer for forgiveness for 1 night is performed
- For wrong doings not extreme, the Arkis will loose all abilities granted
to him as a cleric until a prayer of forgiveness is made every night for
1 week's time. At which so, he must sacrifice 1 gp for every experience
point he has. This sacrifice is then sent to the High Arkis in supporting
the church. The Arkis must either make arrangements or pay for the shipping
of the sacrifice. (Note that most people will not go near the Kalish, and
those that will, will do so at a hefty)
- For major wrong doings, the Arkis will loose all abilities and spells
for 1 week's time. At which so, he must do the above except he must sacrifice
2 gp for every experience point he has attained.
Duties of the Arkis
- Council anyone who seeks it
- Vigilance against those who are against or betray the Kalish
- Support the Kalish Orders
- Marriage to the followers
- Archiving spells and lore that the mage will find useful
- Promote the Fantasin Arts
- Teaching of the art
- Protect the magic wielders of the Kalish Orders in any event that the
Kalish calls forth upon.
- Provide trial for the Kalish and support the Council in any investigation
or judicial proceedings.

- Supervise any activity of any holy war that may be fall on the church
- Assist the High Arkis as well as answer to him.
